Site Speed Once Again Plays a Part in SEO

In the early days of web design and SEO one of the main factors governing the site design was speed of page loading. We eventually worked out, given at the time people were more patient with slower modems, that you could generally say, any more than 7 seconds for a page to load and the client/customer would start to wander.

Recently with the advent of faster and faster broadband, this was no longer the issue it once was. Although those designers that were around in the early days still had an eye on the speed a site appears and try and maintain, for the sake of the client experience, quick load times.

But what goes around comes around and recently Google have announced that as well as the 200 or so factors they use to grade a website, speed of download will again start to play a part in theis grading system. Googles intention is that pages should load as fast as someone can turn a physical page. So Google will be raising the rank of faster sites compared to others.

Next we will look at ways to increase the speed of your site.
