This is especially relevant with SEO due to the information involved, the time it takes and also the amount of different people involved. Over time we have developed an 18 point SEO checklist, so that at a glance an account manager or client can see where a client is along the SEO road.
Each of these points is obviously a simplified header of very much more complex events.

Google Rivals (Googles suggested competitor when a search is done)
Rival Keyword /Links (Agreed Competitors Keywords and Links)
Analytics (Ad Analytics or other measures to client site)
Site Design review (Does the new/old design work as intended is the buying process simple)
On Site SEO Checklist (Keywords, Meta Tags, Copywriting, Categories, Keyword density etc)
Rank Check Analytics updt (3 month update of rank)
