So, you have your Facebook page set up and attracting Fans, pulling some traffic through to your website. However, there are a few more ways you can make your page ‘pop’ and get even more interaction with the fans. Here are a few tips and tricks:

  • Add Applications – the exact applications will vary based on your needs, but we would recommend making sure youinclude the Static FBML application and feeds to your blog and twitter account (if any). You can also use applications to set up polls, games, surveys, and much more!
  • Set up Admins – once your page is established, you could benefit from setting up additional admins – i.e. people on Facebook who can edit the page. In general this will include your personal account or that of anyone within your company responsible for marketing. This will ensure you don’t have to keep switching logins on Facebook just to change your page, and updates from different users on the page can make you seem larger. These can even be fans of your page who are especially fanatical about you!
  • Add a landing page – using the Static FBML application above, you can create a html rich landing page to further grip customers. This landing page should direct people to relevant areas of your website. You can also set up this page as the first page that users see when visiting your page (but note: Admins of the page will always get the Wall first).
  • Add plenty of images – if you have images available for your product, add them to your page. Facebook includes an image upload and tagging system allowing you to label your images. Don’t forget to Publish your images once uploaded! It is generally better to spread out image uploading, do a batch of images every few days or when a new product is released, this helps you update your page frequently and keeps your customers coming back for more.
  • Get a Facebook URL – Once your page has 25 or more fans, you can apply for a Facebook URL. This URL will be of the form www.facebook.com/yourcompany – this can be a real help when getting people to link to your Facebook page as they don’t have to try remember a long id! However, you must be very careful when picking your URL as there are some strict rules, and you can’t change it once you’ve applied for it!
  • Add fan-specific content – Using FBML you can specify areas on your page which are only shown to your fans. Use this to give promotions and vouchers to your fans
